The Stratham Volunteer Fire Department
The Stratham Volunteer Fire Department protects the homes, businesses and people working and living in the six square miles of Stratham. It operates out of a single station on Winnicut Road. The original station was built by members in 1955 with an addition added in the late 1960's to make room for additional equipment. The station has 6 truck/ambulance bays. The Stratham fire department has one of the lowest occurrences of structure fires in the seacoast area. This low number is attributable much new construction which meets applicable codes. Most of the equipment purchased each year is paid for by the annual Stratham Fair which also defrays tax costs to the residents of Stratham.
In addition to the Chief, Robert Law, there are 10 officers and 60 members of the volunteer department. The services provided to the community in addition to fire protection are EMS, Search and Rescue and Extrication.
