Diane Morgera
Director of the Miss Stratham Fair Pageant for the past 12 years.
Diane retired as Director for the annual pageant at the end of the 2006 season. She took it over from George Brown in June 1994 (There's a cute story that goes with that you can ask her about when you see her in your travels). In the early years, much appreciated encouragement came from David and Elizabeth Noyes with ongoing support from her husband, Rich. Her list of people with whom she was lucky enough to work with in her position goes on forever, both Stratham Fair people and Miss New Hampshire people.
And then, of course, there are "the girls;" Each with ther name on the "Queen's Trophy," and whom contributed to the Fair and the SVFD in their own way. Diane felt privileged to spend many memorable years in the company of these 13 outstanding young women. As a group, they are bright, funny, talented, intelligent and dedicated to community service, and are especially loyal to the Stratham Fair. Four contestants went on to win the Miss NH Title. Five are married, four are moms, and one is about to be. These young women, their husbands, parents and fellow Miss America volunteers form an extended family that has seen her through good times and bad.
For instance, when the Fair Committee asked Diane to organize the re-dedication concert for the David C. Noyes Stage, it was Candace Glickman (Miss SF 2001) who came back and helped organize the event, MC'd, and sang; Cara Silva (2000) and Jennifer Nolet (1998) preformed as well. When David Noyes passed away, it was Audra Paquette (1999/pictured above with Diane) and Belinda Bridgeman who created a stunning tribute on stage to the music of Amazing Grace. And when Diane and Rich lost their son, Peter Morgera (Airman First Class), to terrorists in 1996, it was Brandee Helbick (1994) and Mary Gatchell (1995) who actually put the show together for her. And finally, she couldn't forget to mention Jamie Conley (1997) and Emily Hughes (2004), and their parents, who have returned every year to help her with the show.
Much has happened in Diane's tenure as Director and we're all thankful she was there to pull it all together; A complex hodgepodge of rules, regulations, and requirements that get addressed each year seamlessly behind the scenes by truly outstanding woman. Thank You, Diane!
